Absinthe Scherzo Verte

Overall:
Another great American absinthe! The grape spirit base needs some time to mature. I think this absinthe gets better the longer it sits. The grape base is very good and brandy like, but I want the absinthe flavors to be more dominant. With the grape spirit being so present, this tastes a bit like the Tremblement de Terre cocktail.

Aroma:
Very grape spirit forward. Sweet and reminds me of butterscotch without water.
Once louched it's super floral perfume with sweet cinnamon and mint.
Appearance:
Pale golden peridot without water. Louches into creamy mint green with opalescent blue edges.
Louche:
Beautiful opalescent blue cloud rolls up from the bottom. Nice oily trails, which I'm sure looks like the rainbow in the sun. I may have to have a glass of this in the morning to see what it looks like in direct sun.
Taste:
Minty, fresh wormwood and mint right up front, just behind it is a confectionery anise/fennel combo that sticks to the edge of the tongue while the sides of the tongue experience a spicy, green earthy medicinal bitterness. I get a light candied orange peel sweetness, and some coriander on the back of the tongue. The mouthfeel is interesting on this one, it evolves depending on what part of your tongue is experiencing it. It feels a little thin toward the tip of the tongue gets very rich and savory on the center of the tongue, and somewhere in between on the sides. Lemon balm builds as I sip, and there are some brighter green, lemony notes like lemongrass.
Finish:
Leaves a pleasant anise candy coating on the tongue with a little cooling mint. After a few minutes the anise and mint fades, and your left with sweet fennel, that just hangs on, I finished the glass five full minutes ago and I'm still tasting and feeling the fennel.
