Absinthe Whisky Base

Overall:
I had this years ago when it first came out (2022) and I remember the new-make whisky smell being more powerful then. I'm having this again now (2026) that it's been a few years since it's creation, and that whisky aroma has mostly faded. This absinthe gets better and better the longer it sits. This satisfies two cravings at once, you get your absinthe and your scotch all harmoniously married into one glass!

Aroma:
Anise candy with a hint of mint and a faint new-make whisky bottom holding it all together. The more a sniff, I'm getting the slightest cherry note and some malt. Marshmallow. Also smells a bit woody, maybe like cedar. Honeysuckle.
Appearance:
Before being louched it looked like a young scotch until I swirled it which brought out the green. It louches into a nice creamy honey green color with white baby blue edges.
Louche:
Gold and green trails first, then red, then a beautiful baby blue and white wave ride the honey green cloud that's forming below. Gorgeous!
Taste:
Greeted by anise and mint with a soft fennely edge, and a slightly spicy malted barley undertone. Nice evolution as it moves around your mouth. The wormwood surfs in riding those whisky notes halfway down the tongue. The more sips you take, the more scotchlike it gets. Or maybe not, it kind of bounces back and forth from absinthe to scotch. Medium rich mouthfeel. Honey and lemon balm.
Finish:
The finish even evolves nicely. The trinity is there at first, then it just feels like you sipped a mild scotch, some slightly spicy malted barley notes, then there's a chocolatey flavor that kicks in at the end.
